Inspired by the goats used to clear brush on the hillsides of the Palos Verdes Peninsula and other areas in the South Bay, Kids For Kids is a fundraiser coordinated by the Affinity Group of the Volunteer Center South Bay-Harbor-Long Beach.

The Affinity Group created this unique opportunity for individuals, corporations and organizations to support Operation Teddy Bear (OTB) – the Volunteer Center’s literacy program providing schoolbags filled with books, educational materials and wellness tools, along with a lesson in kindness and volunteering, to the area’s most underserved first grade students.

Kids For Kids Statues

For a $1,000 donation benefitting Operation Teddy Bear, Kids For Kids sponsors received a special gift: a resin statue of a baby goat – or “kid!” These charming statues with adorable faces, realistic eyes and playful poses (pictured) were hand painted or otherwise artistically-created with unique designs by local artists, unless the sponsor requested to keep the natural look of their “kid.” Click here to learn more about the Artists and “Kids.” Special thanks to Destination: Art and the Torrance Artists’ Guild for spearheading the goat-art process for a majority of the “kids!”

A special Painted “Goat” Parade and Reception was held on Sunday, July 8 at a private home in Palos Verdes Estates to celebrate the sponsors, artists and artistic creations that made this fundraiser a success. Click here to see pictures from the reception!
